Water Safety Courses

Swift Water Safety Course:

Bob Dylan had it right..."the times they are changing." Especially when it comes to our natural weather patterns! Our climate is producing more in the way of extremes and one of those is concentrated heavy rainfalls which in turn lead to high water levels and flooding. Sooner of later YOUR Search and Rescue team will be called on to help in a "high water" emergency.

Workshop Outline:

• Equipment for YOUR rescue team
• River bank search techniques
• Protocols for keeping safe around moving water
• Latest and practical infomration on immerson hypothermia
• Throw-bag techniques and choices
• Swimming safely in moving water
• Partner and personal rescue technique River crossing techniques...personal, team and with a patient

Cost: $150.00

Workshop is an active / interactive 6 hour day in the water and on the river bank

Participants must supply personal floatation device, helmet and be equipped (wet suit or dry suit) to be in the water

Adventure Racer Water Safety Clinic:

This customized course is designed specifically for adventure racers! It provides an opportunity learn about the mechanics of the river as well as experientially learning about the cold and force the river exerts on the body.

Clinic Outline:

• Reading the river for typical characteristics and hazards
• Working with and understanding river equipment
• Swimming in moving water - understanding the dangers of different environments
• Rescue techniques in moving water
• River crossings - solo, with partners and rope aided

Cost: $ $99.00

Participants must supply wet suit or dry suit, approved helmet, approved PFD and appropriate clothing and gear to spend a day on the river. Courses are available for groups of 10 or more participants. Contact us today to schedule your customized course!

Swiftwater Rescue Course:

Canadian LIfesaving Society - Swiftwater Rescue

The course for Guides working in a moving water environment; or Fire Fighters and Rescue Personnel who may be called upon to enter moving water rescue situations.
