Meet Our Team

Rocky Mountain Adventure Medicine is a company born from experience. That experience has been gained on many continents and in many environments. Our staff are avid exponents of a broad range of outdoor disciplines and strive to be at the cutting edge of these pursuits. All are firm believers in an experiential approach to learning.

Dave's lifetime of experience leads Rocky Mountain Adventure Medicine to heights of unparalleled professionalism. As an Outward Bound staff trainer, leader of management workshops dealing with communication skills and leadership issues, and a nationally recognized rescue specialist, Dave has a wealth of knowledge and experience to impart.

His skills as a teacher and registered paramedic combine to create a wonderful foundation for meaningful and practical learning experiences, which are second to none. As a professional member of the American Mountain Guides Association and an associate with the Wilderness Medical Society, Dave remains current with technical and medical advances and these are reflected in our programmes and practices.

Brenda works to direct and manage Rocky Mountain Adventure Medicine. A teacher and counsellor with over twenty years of experience, Brenda facilitates learning experiences for a wide range of clientele. She contributes a blend of organizational wizardry with instructional innovation which ensures the consistency of the product we offer our clients.

Her enthusiasm directs the experiential learning environment that gives Rocky Mountain Adventure Medicine its professional edge.

Guy brings a great wealth of expertise and knowledge to Rocky Mountain Adventure Medicine Inc. He has many years of experience in the Search and Rescue field being involved in the training of personnel throughout Canada in the areas of Rescue Fundamentals and Search Management. Until recently Guy was the Search and Rescue Specialist for the BC Provincial Emergency Programme.

Guy continually strives to further develop his knowledge base and to diversify his skills and at present is training to be an Emergency Medical Technician. Guy's love and enjoyment of the outdoors has seen him traveling Canada in search of rivers to canoe, oceans to kayak and valleys to explore. With his sharp wit and tremendous ability to relate to others, Guy is a wonderful asset to our team and a facilitator who is second to none.

 

Doug Ritchie, BSc, EMT - A

Programme Facilitator

If you have ever needed to be evacuated out off a cliff or out of a remote region anywhere around Nordegg you will probably recognize Doug. Doug has worked on the Nordegg Ambulance service for many years. He is a long line rescue specialist dropping into places that are inaccessible or too time consuming to walk or drive to.

If you have never had any problems and still recognize Doug that is because he is always in the mountains. Canoeing, climbing, hiking, skiing and mountaineering are all things Doug loves to do.

Doug also teaches with Rocky Mountain Adventure Medicine and guides with a variety of outfitters in Alberta.

Steve McGrath

Programme Facilitator

Steve spent several years guiding canoes and rafts on the Nahanni river in Canada's Northwest Territories. He has amassed a diverse background of experience working in several countries such as France, Nepal, Tibet, Trinidad, Iran and Iraq. His has worked as a guide and in industry providing training, environment and safety programs.

Steve lives for a good wilderness adventure, in any country.

Steve graduated the University of Calgary in 1991 with a Bachelor of Physical Education in Outdoor Pursuits.

His favorite activities are water based including, whitewaterkayaking and canoeing just about anywhere. You will also find him on a mountain bike, climbing or out for a hike with a camera.
