Full Moon in June - Hanging out at the Rope Section

Recent Events

Those of you who were around the Calgary area on Saturday, April 22 know that it was cold out! Fresh Winter morning on the Kananaskis Riversnow on the ground and a reminder of winter days we just thought we were done with. Despite this minor setback Rocky Mountain Adventure Medicine was up early that morning and spending time on the Kananaskis river. We

ran our new Water Safety Clinic for adventure racers and had a fantastic time! Participants learned about river hydrology, hazard identification, how to swim safely in moving water, rescue techniques and much more! We had a great time and good luck to all of the participants as they head to Full Moon in June Adventure Race in Crowsnest Pass the first weekend in June!  Check out the pictures of the ropes section at Full Moon in June

Swift Water Rescue

RMAM is runnijng the Canadian Lifesaving Society's SWR course.  If you need a recognised SWR course to meet the demands of your profession as raft, canoe or kayak guide... then here it is!

For Fire Departrments who are tasked to perform SWR in demanding emergency situations you need to take this program BEFORE river levels rise and your personnel are wading into the unknown.  Water is an unforgiving medium that may quicky turn resuer into victim as has happened all too often.  The water does not recognise and differentiate... it simply punishes the unprepared and un-equipped!

RMAM can help to build Emergency Preparedness & Response Plans that ensure safe practice.  The SWR practices can be combined with rope rescue options to allow a more qualified and diverse response to dangerous rescues.
